The Baby Food Diet - Just Another Dumb Fad Diet?
63The Baby Food Diet, also known as the Baby Food Cleanse. Here's another brilliant concept designed to make you realize just how stupid many celebrities are. This one is currently trending because of claims that Jennifer Aniston has been doing it. They've even devoted at least two articles to the topic of Jen's latest diet at Huffington Post.
The Baby Food diet is being touted as a raw foods diet, but I don't think it is what most raw food advocates had in mind. When I think of a raw foods diet, I think of lots of crunchy fresh vegetables that require you to chew, not pureed packaged baby food that you could almost drink with a straw.
This latest fad diet was designed by celebrity fitness guru, Tracy Anderson. The diet itself is basic enough so that makes it easy to follow. Have one regular meal a day, and then eat 14 little jars of baby food for the rest of your meals.
I can see how this diet might be convenient. That and portion control are its main benefits. It is, more or less, real foods and not a lot of rubbish that you shouldn't be eating. The big issue though is that a lot of natural sweeteners are added to baby foods. Even fruit-based baby foods have sugar added to them, which isn't really necessary when you consider how sweet most fruits are in the first place.
Many commercial baby foods also tend to have water and thickening agents added to them. But you can always label hunt. Look for baby foods that are higher in calories and avoid ones with extra ingredients.
Just keep in mind that the fewer fillers inside the jar, the more expensive it will be.
Another point to keep in mind is that baby food varieties of pureed food cost more than the normal adult varieties of the same things. For example, applesauce -- probably the world's most popular pureed food. Applesauce sold in the regular canned foods aisle will be much cheaper per ounce than the baby food version of applesauce sold in those tiny little bottles.
Frankly I find the idea of eating baby food makes me a
little nauseous, but I think many of us desire a diet that is convenient and
portion-controlled so we can just get on with our day. If that is the case for
you, I recommend the Medifast diet as a possible solution. It is portion
controlled, makes losing weight easy and it isn't just overly sweet pureed
foods -- you have lots of food options available and plenty of satisfying
crunchy foods like the Medifast bars to choose from. You can find out more in
my complete Medifast food review with my thumbs up and thumbs down tips for many of their products. You'll also find Medifast 2010 discount codes in my other hub.

Wait a minute...baby food is raw? I would think it would need to be cooked, for easy digestion. But yeah, I agree in its ridiculousness...its great to eat fruits and vegetables, but why would people need to portion control these foods? Portion control your starchy, sugary foods! And I feel like non pureed foods would fill people up faster...especially raw fruits and veggies. I can't believe grown people are eating baby food. Imagine seeing one of your co-workers with 5 of those in their lunch bag? It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.
This is hysterical. What's next? The canned cat food diet? However, I do have to say, I did go through a time in my teen years when I was crazy about pureed plum baby food...with tapioca. But I grew out of it. :)
This is pretty funny. Actually, I used to occasionally eat baby food, but only the fruit. Eating real, fresh food has got to be better for you. I rarely fed my own babies jarred baby food. It's just more processed junk.
The baby food diet somehow does not appeal to me. I would want something to chew on at least every now and then. I understand the convenience but I don't think I could eat the meat and vegetables out of a jar. Of course the fruits are good.
Truly sad. Eating right and exercise would benefit most people. Do the dieters really think they could subsist for very long on baby food? Even babies get to the point were they look at you askance because they want regular food. People need to think for themselves and stop following behind these knucklehead celebrities.
I discovered baby food after having acid reflux for a long time, I used to take medicine 3-4 times a day to eat at least 2 small meals, now I can easily have proper breakfast - lunch and even dinner.
Girls, don't diet! don't! I ve been so stupid when I was young I ve tried almost every diet in the world including "food-free-diet". It s been years ago, but I ve destroyed all my digestive and metabolic system eating weird stuff and starving myself. Eat normal food if u can, baby food is for infants! Being healthy is more important than what u see on your bathroom scales. No one can appreciate your silly efforts to destroy your own body! Eat normal!

And another big negative of this kind of diet is that they don't teach people how to eat healthy. So, after having lost some kilos, chances are that these people just return to the eating habits that made them fat in the first place and re-gain the lost weight in no time, SY
