70If you're looking for some videogames to play on your PC and not just web-based flash games, then you'll want to check out these websites for where to find free PC game downloads. If you know where to look, there's actually a lot of free video games that you can play online or download to play offline.
Some of these sites have a mix of full games that are free as well as free demos of games that can be purchased at your local electronics store. Usually the demos let you try a couple of chapters of the game out on your system so you can make sure both that your system can cope with it and that it is something you want to play. For me, I often find that just working my way through lots of demos is plenty of fun without ever buying the full game! But it is totally up to you.

Retro Gaming
Are you looking for classic PC games to play? Maybe you don't have a fast or powerful enough computer for today's games or maybe you are just a nostalgia buff. Either way there are plenty of classic games that you can download and play for free.
For example, Rockstar Games, the team behind the Grand Theft Auto franchise makes the first two version of GTA available for free. Ton of other classic PC games are carried by GameTap, so be sure to check there if you want to fill up your hard drive. But there are tons of other games known as abandonware that are available too.
Basically, abandonware is any kind of software that has been abandoned by its developer or its ownership status is unknown or in question. A lot of times software makers go out of business and no other company steps in to buy their library. Or maybe a popular game was created by an independent developer who eventually lost interest. Fortunately, there are other gamers like you who love the classics and don't want to lose them so they keep track of them all and make them available to you.
